| File managers tend to be boring techie affairs, but that doesn't apply to Disk space Fan. Fairly intuitive with a succinct Help file the program provides a graphical presentation of your systems hard drive and offers the ability to identify large directories (or Folders) that you may want to delete or back up on a separate drive or disk, or simply delete. Basic information like hard drive Capacity, Usage, and Free Space are immediately available, and after a scan you can drill down to individual files if you care to do that.
After the scan the left Menu provides a list of directories that you can click on to see a graphical representation in the right panel. Double click on a Menu item and the display changes to focus on those files. Find a file you wish to explore and with a right click you can select from a pop up Menu to go back to the Root, Open, Browse, Preview (images), Delete, or see Properties. The caveat I have about Disk Space Fan is that as you drill down into the files the path on the left screen deprecates so you really have to know where you are though of course you can Browse the file and open a Window. All in all it's a pretty nifty program that will analyze all of your drives including a CD/DVD. You can download Disk Space Fan here and encourage its development by donating |
